Hi we’re LUUMI, we make 3D Printed Lamps

It’s nice to meet you 😀

As a quick introduction, we are Rachel & Steve, we, well mostly Steve, have been tinkering with 3D printing since 2017, it was a lot more painful back then, the chances of a failed print were quite high, especially for bigger prints, so the idea of 3D printed lamps was not something that was very practical .

Some of my early prints really weren’t as good as I thought, this is a video I did 8 years ago 😂😂😂

These days the consistency of getting a good clean print has become much better, and the ability to monitor a print, while trying not to fall asleep, is much easier.

And so we thought let’s put this to good use, and LUUMI was born. We launched our first products in August 2025, we’re really pleased with the designs. We have incorporated the vibe of our subject matter into each design, with the first two showing the structured design or Origami which can see below and here.

There’s something very satisfying about being able to create something from your imagination and bring it to the real world, there is also something very frustrating about making the tenth iteration on the design because something doesn’t quite work and you have to wait another 12 hours for it to print, but it’s still fun 🙂

As part of the fun we’ll bring you along for the journey of creating our new designs from scratch.

It’s easy to just download a model from the internet and print it if you happen to own a 3D printer, but there is a lack of satisfaction in that, and a lack of value, meaning those things are often just discarded, so …

For us the whole joy of the Maker community is giving back, and often all that is needed is a starting point and a direction, so we will show you how to create your own unique 3D printed lamps using free tools, from mini lamps you can make easily, to full sized hanging lamp shades with complicated features that really stand out.
